60 new Citroën Relay ‘Enterprise’ panel vans for mobile barber business ‘TRIM-IT’

August 18th, 2022

Citroën UK has taken an order for 60 new Relay ‘Enterprise’ panel vans from mobile barber business ‘TRIM-IT’, star of the hit Channel 4 show ‘The Money Maker’.

TRIM-IT which already has Citroën Relays on its fleet, is expecting to take delivery of the vehicles from the start of 2022. Following on from this, a further 160 Relay panel vans are planned for delivery before the end of 2022 to allow for the continuing growth of the business. The agreements were managed by leasing specialist, Vanaways.

TRIM-IT, a mobile barber business founded by Darren Tenkorang, featured on Channel 4 show ‘The Money Maker’ earlier this year. As part of the show, entrepreneur Eric Collins offered his advice, experience, business acumen and his own financial backing to TRIM-IT to help the brand reach its full potential. Originally running just seven vans – but with a TRIM-IT app with over 17,000 followers – the new fleet of Citroën Relay vans will be put to good use and will allow the business to grow.

Citroën Relay provides TRIM-IT with all the interior space and, critically, the significant amount of headroom it needs. Relay is available with a choice of four trim levels – ‘X’, ‘Worker’ ‘Enterprise’ and ‘Driver’ – as well as four lengths – ‘L1’, ‘L2’, ‘L3’ and ‘L4’ – plus three heights – ‘H1’, ‘H2’ and ‘H3’. These varied combinations allow for load volumes of between 8 and 17m3, and payloads ranging from 1,070 to 1,870kg – which means there’s a Citroën Relay to suit every business.

To help with the day-to-day running of its business, TRIM-IT went for the popular ‘Enterprise’ specification. The Relay Enterprise panel van’s well-appointed equipment listing includes: air conditioning, cruise control with programmable speed limiter*, rear parking sensors, alarm, Touchscreen Audio Pack with DAB radio and an MP3 player plus steering mounted controls, 5-inch colour touchscreen, integrated satellite navigation, Bluetooth® hands free functionality and a USB socket. This is in addition to the standard Relay specification, which includes a full steel bulkhead, electric front windows, tinted glass, heated twin lens door mirrors, height adjustable steering wheel and electronic stability control.

In terms of length and height, TRIM-IT has opted for the 4,035mm long ‘L3’ version with the 2,522mm height ‘H2’, which is a very popular combination within the range. This configuration will allow the fitment of their new look barber shop interior, as previewed on ‘The Money Maker’, complete with tiled floor, crisp white walls and a mirrored ceiling. The additional height of the ‘H2’ version will, of course, allow their barbers to work freely without the risk of hitting the head on the roof of the van.

Scott Westerby, Fleet Director at Citroën UK, commented: “TRIM-IT is one of our most recent customers to make the sensible decision to add a new fleet of Citroën vans to their business and, as a result, has started enjoying the growth that they can bring. With four different lengths, three heights and four trim levels, plus the choice of Diesel and the soon to be launched 100% electric ë-Relay, it really is easy to see why the Citroën Relay range is proving so popular with a wide variety of fleet and business operators.”

Liam Scriven, Chief Operations Officer at TRIM-IT, said: “The Citroën Relay is a great product, with the perfect shape to be converted for our mobile barbershops. It provides a massive loading area and a comfortable cab with all the latest tech to make sure our barbers have the best. We’re looking forward to a long, mutually beneficial relationship with Citroën and to continue using their products.”
