Citroen E-Relay Tipper vs Vauxhall Movano-e Tipper

February 9th, 2023

Electric vans are now found all over the world and seeing an electric van on our roads is a fairly common occurrence. Of course, one of the main reasons for this increase in technology is the threat of climate change. Global warming is a serious issue and most likely the largest problem those living in the 21st century will face. It’s hardly a surprise then that electric vans and cars have become increasingly popular in recent times. After all, many people want to do their bit in trying to reduce emissions. This popularity has now meant that many people are choosing between a variety of different electric vans.

Two of these electric vans have become very popular and a pretty standard toss-up. These two vans are of course the Citroen E-Relay Tipper and the Vauxhall Movano-e Tipper. Tippers are some of the most common van shapes in the world but for some time manufacturers couldn’t produce the right electric motor to sustain the kinds of payload which these vans must be capable of. However, Citroen and Vauxhall have now developed two vans which are more than capable of producing high payload figures while using electric power.

The two vans sit at a fairly similar price range and can do many of the same things. So, which is better, the Citroen E-Relay Tipper or Vauxhall Movano-e Tipper? Keep reading this blog to find out more.

Engines and Spec

Naturally one of the first things you will want to know is how powerful these two vans are and how they compare in terms of range and charging ability. Electric motors have come a long way in the past ten years and both of these vans are extremely capable when it comes to their power and charging ability.

The Vauxhall is undoubtedly slightly more powerful and this may come in useful for a tipper van. The motor in the Movano can produce a very commendable 122 hp with 260 Nm of torque. For an electric van, this is extremely powerful and in fact, the van is capable of reaching a top speed of 75 mph. The E-Relay is slightly less powerful than this however it is still plenty powerful enough to pull a heavy cargo load and get through some serious motorway mileage.

In terms of charging they are both compatible with fast chargers for which there are many dotted around the country. These fast chargers make it incredibly easy for you to charge your van up to 80% in little time at all. In fact, the Movano will charge from 0 to 80% in just under an hour.

When it comes to range these vans are again both very impressive though there is a winner in this field as well. The E-Relay can manage an impressive 154 miles on a single charge whereas the Vauxhall just falls short with a range of 139 miles. Though it must be said that both of these ranges are incredibly impressive making them some of the best electric vans on the market today.

Interior

Both the interiors of these two tippers are brilliantly well-designed. After all, in a workhorse van such as a tipper you need a variety of different things for it to function as it should. First things first, you need plenty of storage and both of these vans have droves of it. There are secure lockers for your valuables and plenty of accessible lockers for your everyday items. This will mean that you can fit all of your tools, paperwork, and valuables easily.

Of course, there is the matter of the driving position. Both of these vans have impeccable driving positions making driving incredibly rewarding. This will mean that your commute to work will be much safer and much more enjoyable.

As for technology, the E-Relay lacks in this field whereas the Movano really shines. Amongst other things, the Movano features a five-inch touchscreen display on the dashboard which can serve as both a media player and a navigation system.

The Verdict

The running costs of the two vans are, of course, exactly the same. With both of these electric vehicles, you will be able to wave goodbye to petrol costs, road tax, and congestion charges. This will of course make driving on the roads far more affordable which will allow you to invest more money into your business and secure your future. Certainly, the cost benefits are one of the main reasons why so many people are choosing to switch to electric power at the moment.

As for payload, the E-Relay boasts an impressive figure of 1,250 kg while the Movano just beats this figure with a maximum payload capacity of 2,000 kg.
