The Fuso Canter Dropside at a glance

With a range of competitive Mitsubishi Fuso tippers already on the market, the 3.5-tonne 3C13 Fuso Canter is the newest addition to the collection, offering a range of refreshing features.

The van is commonly used for carrying aggregates such as gravel and sand, as well as bricks and blocks, paving slabs and drainage materials to and from sites.

Available on Van Sales UK for a competitive £349 + VAT, this 3-seater van could be the van for you.

Read on to hear our thoughts on the engines and specs, interior and pros and cons of this strong and durable van.

Engines and Spec

The Canter 3C13 is built around a rugged ladder frame chassis and has twin rear wheels, making it a strong and durable vehicle suitable for a range of applications.

It offers a highly competitive payload allowance of 980kg, along with a fuel-efficient 3.0-litre engine.

Regarding power, the 3.5t Fuso Canter Dropside produces 300 Nm of torque at 1,300-3,000 rpm and a BHP of 130 with a five-speed manual gearbox. It also offers an eco-mode option.

But it is the steering which is the Canter’s highest strength. Direct, firm and communicative, the Fuso Canter Dropside feels connected to the road whilst cornering and provides ample feedback to the driver about the level grip on the surface below.

With the smallest turning circle in its class and a neat cab width of under 2m, it gets just about anywhere a van can go – and you can drive it on a standard UK car licence, with no special training.

Interior

While design is not the Fuso Canter Dropside’s biggest asset, there is certainly plenty of space for the tools and materials of your trade.

This spacious van also offers several impressive features including rear-view mirror heating, a reverse warning device and comfortable seating.

The ride is impressive for a cab-over vehicle, and its seat and seating position despite being very upright, are comfortable enough.

The dashboard is completely reshaped and central locking and electric windows come as standard, along with a Bluetooth radio/CD player – although disappointingly, the driver’s airbag and ABS brakes are paid-for options at £300 and £850 respectively.

Insulation inside the van has also been increased for quieter running and door apertures are wider with a larger windscreen to create an extra airy, spacious feel. This equates to more head and legroom for the occupants and the gearstick migrates from the floor to the dash.

So, if you’re after a practical but reliable vehicle, the Fuso Canter Dropside could be the van for you.

Pros & Cons
