Peugeot e-Boxer Dropside vs Vauxhall Movano-e Dropside

February 9th, 2023

The dropside is, unquestionably, one of the most iconic van shapes of all time. They have been used for many years to pull and transport incredibly large loads around. They are so iconic, in fact, that they can often be spotted after just a short drive around your town. In recent years though, there has been a drastic shift in the van industry and some new technology has hit the streets. This new technology has meant that like other van shapes dropsides have had to adapt. So, what is this change and how has it affected the van sector?

Of course, the change we are talking about here is the climate crisis. Climate change has rocked the modern world and many industries have implemented a change to try to fix this rising issue. One of the industries that has seen the most drastic change, which is, of course, the vehicle sector. The move has centred around cars and vans switching from petrol engines to the modern variant, the electric motor. The electric motor is an extremely capable option and in this blog, you’ll find that it is more than capable of powering a dropside van.

Two of the most historic and highly thought-of van builders are Peugeot and Vauxhall. Naturally, these two giants in the vehicle industry have started to transition to electric power. They both now have electric cars in their catalogues and even electric vans. Recently they have made the move to electric dropside vans, and that is what we shall discuss today. Which is better, the Peugeot e-Boxer Dropside or Vauxhall Movano-e Dropside? Check out the rest of this blog to find out more!

Engines and Spec

The electric motor is, in fact, one of the most capable and efficient motors ever produced. Electric power, while it does have its critics, is a natural replacement for diesel engines and especially when discussing dropside vans. One of the great things about electric power is the instant nature of the speed and acceleration. Torque is a form of energy which refers to the power being transferred to the wheels of a vehicle and it helps a van pull large heavy loads. With an electric motor, they produce huge torque statistics which will vastly improve the capability of your dropside van.

When it comes to Movano-e dropside, this van really does pack a punch with its power. Its 90kW motor produces 122hp, with a staggering 260 Nm of torque. So you certainly won’t have any issues when it comes to pulling heavy loads to and from site. What’s more, the van will also be good for 75 mph and due to the natural speed limit in the UK, this will actually be five miles per hour more than you will ever need. The Movano-e will also be able to drive for just under 140 miles before it will need a new charge-up. This is a very commendable range for a large payload vehicle.

As for the Peugeot e-Boxer, it too is a very powerful vehicle and will produce more than enough power to pull your van when it’s fully loaded. It’s Peugeot’s range though that is the true star of the show. It can drive for a staggering 154 miles without needing to charge up again.

Interior

Naturally, the interior of both of these vans is very respectable. The modern technology used to power these vehicles would suggest that a fair amount of investment has been used to produce these vehicles. You can see this investment when it comes to matters such as build quality and comfort as both of these vans excel in this field. What’s more, their driving positions are both incredibly comfortable.

Storage is another incredibly important aspect of modern vans. When it comes to the storage of both the e-Boxer and the Movano-e, they are both very impressive. There are a myriad of secure lockers as well as plenty of storage bins for your less valuable items.

What’s more, they also both have a modern touchscreen display system which can be used as both a navigation system and a media player.

The Verdict

Naturally, one of the main reasons why you will purchase an electric car or van is for the savings. You will not have to pay road tax, congestion charges, or low emission zones with either of these vans and charging the vans will be extremely cheap. So, when it comes to economic value, both of these vans really are impeccable.
