Top 5 Cult Classics

Top 5 Cult Classics
October 10th, 2022

The classic image of a van. A vehicle used by thousands up and down the country each day for work and leisure, to transport goods and people wherever they need to go. Everybody loves admiring a great vehicle on television or in a film, such as classic cars including KITT from Knight Rider and the DMC DeLorean as made famous by Back To The Future.

But apart from cars, there have been plenty of cult classic vans around. So here is Van Sales UK’s list of our top 5 cult classic vans.

Volkswagen T2A – Lost

In a series full of strange moments, one of the most peculiar was when our survivors on a deserted island randomly stumbled across a 1968 Volkswagen van in the middle of the forest. Eventually revealed in flashbacks to be the vehicle of choice by the DHARMA Initiative, the van provided the survivors with a lot of joy as they worked to get it running again.

Fleetwood Bounder RV – Breaking Bad

The 1986 Fleetwood Bounder van launched into pop culture notoriety as it became the mobile laboratory featured in Breaking Bad. The RV served them well in the first few seasons of the show before it had to be destroyed to remove any trace of evidence against Walter and Jesse.

GMC G-15 – The A Team

One of the most iconic vans of all time, The A Team’s van is a black and metallic grey GMC Vandura with red accents. No matter what was thrown at it, the van always pulled through, even in situations where any normal vehicle would be totally destroyed.

Reliant Regal – Only Fools & Horses

Del Boy’s signature three-wheeled van is one of the most iconic live-action vans in British television. The bright yellow colour and unique appearance have made it a pop-culture staple, that many can recognise even if they haven’t seen the series. Commonly misidentified as a Reliant Robin, it is actually a 1967 Reliant Regal Supervan III.

Mystery Machine – Scooby Doo

Van Sales UK’s top choice for a cult classic van is The Mystery Machine from Scooby Doo, which Mystery Inc has used since the 60s to take them on adventures all over the world. The cartoon appearance and slightly varying appearances can make the exact model hard to identify, with guesses including a Dodge A100, Fiat 900T Amigo, 1977 Volkswagen Transporter and the Ford Transit Mk2.

In the live-action films Scooby-Doo and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, the Mystery Machine is a 1972 Bedford CF.
