Curtainside Vans

Curtainside Vans, also known as a ‘tautliner’, is the generic name for a curtain sided type of trailer. These are bespoke vehicles built onto a manufacturer’s chassis meaning the dimensions can be tailored to each individual user.

These vans are the haulage industry’s most popular type of modification as it can be used to carry a variety of palletised goods and irregular shaped materials which can be loaded and un-loaded from the ‘curtain’ side when it’s open, facilitating quicker distribution.

The 3.5T models support an average payload of up to a tonne and can be fitted with a rear roller shutter or double doors depending on the type of access and security required. Depending on the chassis, they are also available in a low-loader or can have a tail-lift fitted, similarly to your Luton vans.

Payloads and dimensions vary based on the specific model and manufacturer, but typically a 3.5-tonne curtain side van will be around 6-7 meters in length, 2-2.5 meters in width, and 2.5-3 meters in height.
